"Surrogates" or "Steel"?

This picture was used to depict an image for the new movie coming out called “Surrogates” with Bruce Willis in it, about a Technology has advanced enough so that nearly everyone has a surrogate - or "surry" for short. While reclining at home and plugged into a machine, people control a robotic version of themselves that safely maneuvers through the world in all of its slings and arrows.
But, as I take a look at this picture, to me it gives the impression that we are no longer frail or weak, or need emotion. That we are interchangeable? That we can replace what we don’t like?
We were made in the likeness of God, with heart, mind, and soul. We can and should continue to care for one another, care for our bodies, and work towards change, not replace it with metal…

  1. Pat good choice for a blog this week. I noticed this movie playing at the Cottonwood Cinema and do not plan on seeing it. It is scary the direction we are moving in regards to changing what we do not like, or can't accept. This can apply to anything from plastic surgery to abortion and stem cells. You are right we are all made in the likeness of God, take the good with the bad and leave it alone.

  2. Aw this is a great choice. I have seen these weird pictures all over the place and they kind of scared me. Its sad to think that one day this might actually happen, if technology continues on the fast paced agenda. I hope that it doesn't. Its great that you bring up this point, its almost as if its another way to try and make us perfect, but we are already perfect just the way we are.
